However, it is not only the raw materials that make this shaving soap unique but its complex production process. The mixture is hot-worked 5 times and with 5 different mixing steps of the ingredients.


Each vegetal fat is processed at different times, stages and quantities. A meticulous and complex manual operation that makes the precious raw materials contained capable of nourishing and keeping the skin nourished even many hours after shaving, giving real beneficial effects to the skin.

Excellent, overlooked soap

This is a very good soap that has more of a croap-consistency. Scent on this can be described as "cologney" (aquatic notes are mentioned but I was unable to detect this) and is moderate to mild (4.5-5/10) but very pleasant and sophisticated.

However, where this soap truly excels is how easy it is to generate a nice lather along with the protection it provides during shaving; I was able to do this within 20-30 seconds using an almond-sized dollop which generated a voluminous, thick, yogurt-like lather using either a synthetic or silvertip badger brush sufficient, for a three-pass shave with touch-ups if needed, with more to spare. Additionally, the lather provides generous cushion, glide and the post-shave feel leaves the skin feeling hydrated and supple. Skin feels very protected using this soap; I use a Muhle R41 grande razor, with Nacet or Feather blades, and the results are very smooth; I tend to shave about every 3-4 days.

I am grateful that Pasteur's carries Officina Artigiana Milano (OAM) products, and I hope they continue to do so. I plan on trying the Najran soap and AS next as the scent notes sound very nice. Would definitely recommend this brand despite not being as well known as other artisan soaps.
