Science behind the best retinoid cream

What are retinoids?

Retinoids are a group of compounds that include vitamin A (or pure pharmacy retinol) and other natural vitamin A derivatives, such as retinaldehyde, retinyl esters, and retinoic acid.

Science behind the use of retinoids on the skin

Retinoids, and specifically retinol and retinoic acid, are the most scientifically supported anti-aging ingredients. They have been studied in depth for more than 40 years in well-designed, independent clinical trials, which have demonstrated their efficacy against wrinkles and other signs of aging. They have also been shown to be safe for health when used topically.

Scientifically proven benefits of retinoids on the skin

  • They promote the proliferation and regeneration of skin cells.
  • Stimulate collagen production in the dermis reducing wrinkles and skin flaccidity.
  • They prevent collagen degradation caused by environmental factors.
  • Lighten the skin and prevent pigmentation by decreasing epidermal melanin formation.
  • Act as antioxidants that neutralize oxidizing molecules (free radicals). This reduces skin damage caused by environmental factors (such as sun and pollution).

Skin Cell Regeneration: Retinoids promote the growth and renewal of skin cells, leading to a more youthful appearance.

Collagen Stimulation: They stimulate collagen production, a key structural protein that gives skin its elasticity and firmness.

Wrinkle Reduction: By increasing collagen production and preventing its breakdown, retinoids help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Pigmentation Improvement: Retinoids can help lighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation by inhibiting melanin production.
